Russian Leaders Attend Orthodox Christmas Services

As Orthodox Christians celebrated Christmas Eve on January 6, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev attended a service at Moscow's Christ the Savior Cathedral together with his wife Svetlana, while President Vladimir Putin attended church in the Krasnodar region. Orthodox Christians throughout Russia and other Orthodox countries celebrate Christmas Day on January 7, 13 days after Western Christmas, in keeping with the old Julian calendar.
