Romanian President Basescu on September 25 asked the government to simplify as far as possible the naturalization procedure for Moldovan citizens, irrespective of their ethnic origin. President Basescu said that, on account of historical and political reasons, Romania had the moral duty to simplify the aforesaid procedure. He added that such a liberalization could help cover the lack of labour force in Romania and the European Union.
