Romanian Foreign Ministry declaration regarding Ukrainian would-be settlement on disputed Black Sea island

The Romanian Foreign Ministry issued a communique on February 9 declaring that the would-be Ukrainian settlement on the Black Sea rock called Insula Serpilor will have no legal effects at the Hague International Court where Romania and Ukraine dispute their rights over the continental platform. By creating a semblence of settlement on the island although it hasn't got its own water resources, as international law requires, Kiev authorities try to obtain the lion’s share of the continental platform said to be rich in oil reserves.
