On account of a renewed low turnout Chisinau's repeat mayoral election on 24 July was invalidated. Only 19.8 percent of registered voters took part, while at least one-third must have voted for an election to be considered valid. Turnout in the previous mayoral election was 27 percent. The Central Election Commission is to set the date for new elections within 60 days.
