Romanian Prime Minister Calin Popescu-Tariceanu said on 15 March that the government would not use the precedent cabinet's system of awarding state advertising mainly to friendly media to avoid thus critical comments. "The current government has the political will not to control the media. Romania needs a transparent, accountable system for state advertising" - Prime Minister Calin Popescu-Tariceanu said in a speech to parliament. He added that the new system of managing state advertising was being drafted with the assistance of media watchdogs.
