In a declaration issued on 9 February, Luxembourg's present EU Presidency called on the authorities in Moldova to guarantee free and fair elections, by allowing unbiased, pluralist media coverage of the campaign and by showing even-handedness towards all candidates and their supporters. According to the declaration, the EU "attaches considerable importance to its relations with the Republic of Moldova" and the level of the relations between Moldova and the EU "will depend on Moldova's commitment to shared values."
