Romanian President in Chişinău: "We hope to share a common European future"

On 21 January Romanian President Basescu payed a visit to Chisinau, his first official visit abroad, at the invitation of his Moldovan counterpart Voronin. After the official talks, President Basescu said that his administration would be Moldova's most loyal advocate in Europe: "We share a common history and we hope to share a common European future".

In this context, he stressed that Bucharest treated Moldova with the respect a sovereign, independent and indivisible state deserved. Alluding to Moldova's present electricity crisis due to its being cut off from its main supplier in Transnistria, Basescu said that Romania would not allow any foreign energetic blackmailing of Chisinau.
