Only six days after taking office, Bucharest Prefect Silvian Iosifescu resigned on 13 January. Iosifescu has worked for the Securitate's Foreign Intelligence Directorate and his appointment was criticized by President Traian Basescu in an interview with the private Realitatea TV on 10 January.
