The Romanian foreign minister Adrian Cioroianu resigned April 11, following controversy over the death in January of a Romanian citizen jailed in Poland for theft who, claiming innocence, had gone on a hunger strike.
Announcing his resignation, Adrian Cioroianu said that the consul in Poland had failed to inform the Foreign Ministry about Claudiu Crulic's case.
Crulic died in January in a hospital in Cracow after a 3 month long hunger strike.
