Romanian municipal delegations stopped at the border by Moldovan guards

Delegations from three Romanian towns invited by the Chisinau Mayoralty were denied the right to cross into Moldova by the Moldovan border police on October 12.

Romanian Prime Minister Tariceanu deplored the incident, declaring that, contrary to their much invoked intention to accede to the European Union, the Moldovan authorities actually veer from the EU values.

Romanian Foreign Minister Adrian Cioroianu called the incident an act of hostility towards Romania. His Moldovan counterpart Andrei Stratan said that the incident will be investigated.
