Former Romanian Minister hired in Macedonia for anticorruption campaign


Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski on June 30 appointed former Romanian justice minister Monica Macovei, to advise him on the government's declared "zero-tolerance" policy against corruption. Macovei is seen as a key figure in Romania's efforts to ready itself for accession to the EU in January 2007, and is credited with driving through judicial reforms. Macovei, a former activist, served in the Romanian government between 2004 and 2007.
