Moldovan Parliament Speaker Marian Lupu insinuates Romania has hidden agenda against Moldova

During the visit to Chisinau of Hungarian Parliament Speaker Katalin Szili on March 30, Marian Lupu, Speaker of the Moldovan Legislature, praised Budapest as a sincere advocate of Moldova’s wish to integrate in the European Union. Lupu added that Chisinau appreciated all the more Hungary’s help as, unlike other states, it did not have a hidden agenda. The remark has been interpreted as an innuendo to Romania, recently accused by Chisinau of trying to undermine Moldova’s statehood through its policy of granting Romanian citizenship to Moldovans.
