20 year prison sentence for explosion on Tiraspol trolleybus

A court in the breakaway region of Transdniester on March 19 sentenced a man to 20 years in prison for causing an explosion that killed two people on a trolleybus in August 2006. According to Basa news agency, the explosion was an accident, the man having intended to use his homemade explosives to attack the home of a former employer who had recently laid him off. The explosion was the second in the space of five weeks in the summer of 2006. In the first incident, in July, eight people died and dozens were injured when an explosion ripped apart the minibus in which they were traveling. Responsability for that incident remains unclear.
