A group of more than 30 heads of delegations to the OSCE arrived in Chisinau on November 10, on the invitation of the Moldovan Foreign Ministry. The OSCE described the trip as an opportunity to gather first-hand information on the situation in Moldova, especially on the Transnistrean conflict.
The OSCE diplomats met Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin, Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev, Speaker of Parliament Marian Lupu, Foreign Minister Andrei Stratan, Minister for Reintegration Vasile Shova and representatives of all parliamentary factions. The OSCE Mission hosted meetings with representatives of non-governmental organizations.
On the agenda of the visit there were also a briefing on the work of the Peacekeeping Forces by the Joint Military Command, a fact-finding tour through the security zone, meetings with the secessionist leaders in Tiraspol and with the head of the EU Border Assistance Mission, General Ferenc Banfi.
