Moldova’s Foreign Minister Andrei Stratan expressed hopes that the coming EU-Rusia summit would address the Transnistria conflict. In an interview with Free Europe on November 3, Andrei Stratan mentioned the fruitless talks he had had on the subject with his Russian counterpart Serghei Lavrov. Stratan added that in spite of this and other setbacks Chisinau would negotiate only with Moscow and not with the separatists in Tiraspol, since only direct negotiations with Russia could solve this frozen conflict.
