Russian First Deputy Foreign Minister Valerii Loshchinin told the State Duma that his ministry would formally sumit a proposal to the legislative for sanctions against Moldova. Loshchinin said on 17 March that Russian ministries were studying "how Moscow could use the appropriate economic levers, taking into account the Moldovan leadership's unfriendly acts".
