The OSCE representative for press freedom: Moldovan national media lack in balance

The OSCE representative for press freedom, Miklos Haraszti said on Thursday after a fact-finding visit to Moldova that the national radio and television stations do not reflect in a balanced way the political life of the country. Speaking at a news conference, Haraszti mentioned the conspicous presence of government representatives on both stations, while the opposition is seldom allowed to present its views.

Haraszti noted that his conclusion was confirmed by the monitoring study of the the programmes broadcast by TeleRadio-Moldova, study undertaken by the Independent Journalism Centre (CIJ), with the support of several foreign embassies and the OSCE Mission to Moldova.
