The CNSAS Board’s mandate to be shortened by two years

The Deputy Chamber’s Defence Comission voted to shorten by two years the CNSAS Board’s mandate (National Council for the Study of the Archives of former political police Securitate).

By approving the PSD amendments to the Law concerning the citizens’s access to the Securitate files, the Defence Comission reduced the CNSAS Board members’ mandate to four years and put the institution under the control of the parliamentary comission supervizing the Romanian Information Service.

Horia Roman Patapievici, member of the CNSAS Board, denounced the vote in the Defence Comission, calling it an attempt to put CNSAS under political control.
