Victor Stepaniuc and the Notion of Marxist-Lenininst Social-Democrats

The leader of the Communist fraction in the Moldovan Parliament, Victor Stepaniuc said that the reforms envisaged by the party leadership do not entail renouncing the marxist-leninist ideology or changing the party name. Speaking in an interview with RFE, Stapaniuc dismissed the liberal economic model and pleaded for a state-controlled market economy which he called a social-democratic model. He added that communism still looms large but at a significantly long distance.
